Did you know that STOCK T.C. sits on the site of a key moment in Toronto’s history? 🔍
In the early 1830s, Montgomery’s Tavern stood here in what was then the village of Eglinton. In December 1837, it became the gathering place for reformers during the Upper Canada Rebellion led by William Lyon Mackenzie. After the battle, the tavern was burned down by government forces.
Though the rebellion was unsuccessful, it helped inspire political reforms that shaped the development of responsible government in Canada.
Nearly a century later, in 1936, the Art Deco building known as Postal Station K was constructed on the same site, serving Toronto as a busy post office for decades.
Today, the building continues its story in a new form. Many of the archival photographs featured here can also be found throughout the restaurant and in parts of the grocer, connecting the space to its past.

For public transport, take the subway to the Yonge Station and walk north on Yonge Street for about 5 minutes. Alternatively, take the bus to the intersection of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue and walk south for about 10 minutes.
For driving/parking, there are several paid parking lots in the area, including one on Broadway Avenue just east of Yonge Street. On-street parking may also be available, but please note that it is generally limited and subject to time restrictions.
