SOO...I don’t usually make sculpted cakes as I tend to underestimate myself and avoid these types of cakes altogether. However; when I was contacted by Icing Smiles to make a birthday cake for a 3 year old with leukaemia, I told myself that I have to make an epic cake. And so I did, it took many hours BUT it was worth it.

Icing Smiles is a nonprofit organization that provides custom celebration cakes for the ill child who suffers from life threatening illnesses, or their sibling.

I was able to make a Bulldozer cake for Jake. Jake is a 3 year old with leukaemia.

Memories have magical powers. Long after the cake is gone, the memories linger – memories of the kindness of a stranger, of the art of the design, of the sweet smells of a special treat, of the smiles and laughs, of a normal childhood experience so often stolen from these children. These memories are why we say, “It is so much more than a cake.” - Icing Smiles
