It’s time for us to say goodbye.
After almost 8 years, we have decided not to re-new our lease for East Thirty-Six. Covid has not been kind, and along with the incessant construction along Wellington St East, we have made the difficult decision to close permanently.
We thank everyone that has passed through our doors - most importantly our amazing staff, guests and regulars that truly were the heart and soul of East!
Thank you for your support - your kind messages, phone calls and emails asking when we were opening. While it’s a difficult decision, it’s the right one for us as we move onto the next chapter.

Remember when we thought we just had to flatten the curve? That closures were temporary? It’s been quite the journey - we hope everyone is hanging in there. ❤️

Just a little update, to let you know we need to close for (at least) the next 28 days.
By now most people are aware of the recent closure of indoor dining - HOWEVER we are also losing our curbside patio early, due to hydro construction along Wellington Street that (apparently) needs to start this week.
This leaves us no choice but to close completely until restaurants are allowed to re-open indoor dining. Another difficult period is ahead, but we will make it through 🤞, and look forward to seeing everyone once it’s safe to do so again. ❤️😷

To reach Wellington Street East in Toronto, take public transport to King Subway Station and then walk east along King Street until you reach Wellington Street. Alternatively, if driving, take the Gardiner Expressway to the Jarvis Street exit and then turn north onto Jarvis Street before turning right onto Front Street and then left onto Wellington Street East. There are several paid parking lots in the surrounding area.
