Weekend recap ✨

This weekend was a reminder that life can hold so many emotions at once.

There was laughter, music, friendship, baking, celebration, and gratitude. There were also moments of reflection and missing those we wish were still here to share it all with us.

Between concerts with friends, recipe testing and preparing for upcoming TV appearances, Father’s Day cookie orders, cake pickups, and time spent creating in the kitchen, my heart felt full. The past few weeks have been challenging, and I’ve been reminded that joy and grief can exist side by side.

Yesterday, I celebrated a man who has redefined what being a father looks like. Dave, thank you for your unwavering love, patience, and devotion to our family.

At the same time, Father’s Day will always carry a bittersweet ache. My father-in-law was far more than a father-in-law to me, he was a father in every sense of the word. The pain of losing him is still very real, and I miss him deeply.

What I do know is that baking has always been my therapy. It’s where I find peace, purpose, and a way to pour love into others, even when my own heart feels a little heavy.

Here’s to celebrating the good, honouring the hard, and being grateful for every moment in between. ❤️

When summer arrives and temperatures rise, I find myself reaching for no-bake desserts more and more. ☀️

I recently shared one of my favourite sweet-and-salty treats: Salted Caramel Pretzel Bars 🥨 on CHCH Morning Live.

They’re buttery, gooey, crunchy, and incredibly easy to make, but a few small details make all the difference.

✨ Don’t over-crush the pretzels: Leave some larger pieces throughout the bars.This gives you that irresistible sweet-and-salty crunch and prevents the base from becoming too dense.

✨ Don’t overbake the bars: The bars should still look slightly soft in the centre when they come out of the oven. They’ll continue baking as they cool, giving you that gooey texture everyone loves.

✨ Finish with flaky sea salt: A small sprinkle on top enhances the caramel flavour and balances the sweetness. It’s the secret that makes people keep reaching for “just one more bite.”
