Have you seen our new art?! Our spotlight artist this month is Katika Marczell (Katika Marczell)!!
This selection of work is rooted in play, storytelling, and emotional vulnerability, drawing inspiration from children’s storybooks, local wildlife, and mixed with their personal aesthetic.
Influenced by the poetic sensitivity of Shel Silverstein, Marczell approaches art-making as an open-ended act of care and curiosity. Her recurring imagery operates as a symbol of q***r identity, community care, and interconnectedness. Through these layered metaphors, her work reflects on what it means to experience emotion in a world that often discourages openness, sensitivity, and tenderness. Marczell’s practice examines how public and communal spaces can foster connection, silliness, and belonging. Whether through murals, workshops, or gallery-based work, she is invested in creating environments that feel welcoming and alive.
