Millwood Melt was a popular sandwich shop and fast food restaurant located in the city. They specialized in making unique versions of grilled cheese, using fresh and handmade ingredients. Customers could either build their own creation or try out one of the four signature sandwiches. Each sandwich was served on organic St. John's Bakery bread with gluten-free and vegan options available. Additionally, they offered a discounted combo meal for kids and students. Unfortunately, this restaurant has been permanently closed.

Happy New Year to all of you! We hope you’ll forgive our prolonged absence. As most of you know, we had to reduce our hours and ultimately close Millwood Melt due to health reasons. Thankfully, I feel better now and can work again.

During my illness, one thing that motivated me was my long-held dream of opening a venue for spiritual development. I'm delighted to announce that it has finally come together. Aniko and I have been transforming The Melt into a spiritual centre and all-round welcoming space dedicated to cultivating the higher self.

Some of you may recall that I taught in schools and worked in mediation and spiritual direction before opening The Melt. I have been and continue to be a spiritual teacher, sharing enlightenment teachings throughout the city, including at the Multifaith Centre at the University of Toronto. But having my own space to work with individuals on a spiritual path is a dream come true, and it will be my deepest joy to start hosting gatherings once again.

The plan is to start gradually and expand, incorporating feedback from the community. We will open in a limited capacity very soon. Some of you expressed an interest in secular group/guided meditations. Other ideas for this space might include intention circles, meaningful conversation cafes, spiritual education workshops, mindfulness walks, restorative yoga, spiritual soccer, or even pop-ups hosted by other like-minded professionals looking to share their alternative healing modalities with the community.

I am also offering spiritual guidance focused on enlightenment once more. For those who are curious, these sessions can profoundly aid in awakening your soul and deepening your spirituality. If you need any assistance on your journey, feel free to contact me without any hesitation.

Thank you so much to everyone for coming out to say farewell! You really made it such a fun and special day. Steve asked me nicely to stop smiling like a Wallace and Gromit character in pics, so my subdued demeanour here hides my deep emotion and happy heart. We love you all and look forward to staying in touch and bumping into you around the ‘hood.

Guys, we miss you all so much! You made The Melt such a special place, and it’s been feeling empty around here without you. Since we didn’t get the chance to say goodbye properly when we closed back in September, we’d really love to see you in person and thank you for letting us be a part of your lives and teaching us the value of kindness, loyalty, and laughter in building strong friendships.

So, come say farewell and reminisce with us! We’ll be giving away coffee and cookies – and hugs – to carry us all into the new year. ❣️CIAO FOR NOW, MELTERS❣️

Well, sweet friends, the time has come to close the doors of our beloved Melt after nearly 11 wonderful years. We’ve been talking about it the past few years, and despite the fact that we are busier than ever, we’ve been conflicted for a while about whether we should hire and expand to meet demand or instead pursue a dream that’s been in Steve’s heart for decades: to continue building his spiritual teaching career. Focusing on both has proven to be too challenging, especially while he’s still recovering.

So, with heavy but hopeful hearts, we’ve decided to lay down our spatulas in favour of meditation mats and embrace a more serene next stage of life that moves at our pace. It's difficult to describe the strange mix of sadness and excitement we're feeling. Although we’ll miss you dearly, we're also grateful to you for allowing us into your lives and hearts. You’ve undoubtedly become a part of our extended family.

Thank you to all our supporters for helping to keep this little raft afloat for all these years. We intend to keep our space at 902 Millwood Road and reopen as a spiritual centre in spring, where members of our beloved community are invited to gather in a welcoming space devoted to cultivating the higher self. Steve’s beard should be quite spectacular by then, truly befitting a monk!

Happy Pride Month! To celebrate, the esteemed queens of q***r have decreed that it’s fine to fuse your booze this week! So our specialty melt features both a wine cheese AND a brandy-saturated jam!

BOOZY BUDDIES IN BAD TIMES MELT: sweet & savoury grilled cheese sammy with sliced prosciutto, wine-infused aged cheddar from Empire Cheese Co-op via St. Cuthbert's, and a boozy fruit jam spread (figs, raisins, & cranberries we soaked in brandy and amaretto liquor, then made into jam). It’s so boozy we can’t even think straight!

RAINBOW STUFFED PEPPER SOUP: Deconstructed stuffed pepper soup with rainbow-coloured bell peppers, ground beef & pork meats, and basmati rice to soak up some of the yummy juices.

PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES: It’s my b-day on Friday (whoo-hoo!) so we asked our favourite baker to make my favourite cookies. Order as many as you like, but please leave me some. :D
