Zoe's Coffee Roasters is a coffee shop located on Pape Avenue. In September 2018, the cafe celebrated its opening day and offered $1 iced coffee as part of the promotion. In August of that year, the business posted on social media that they were almost done with their finishing touches. The owner expressed their desire to replicate the kindness and hospitality they experienced in cafes around the world by paying it forward to the people of Toronto. A lot of the reason why I ventured into the coffee business was the hospitality and kindness I’ve received in cafes around the world, particularly while teaching abroad. It was isolating to live in a small town where locals did not speak a lick of English. I found a safe haven in the neighbourhood cafe, where the baristas greeted us with bows and smiles. Even though we couldn’t speak each other's language, it was through the act of service that we bonded. Our hope is that we can pay that kindness forward here in Toronto.
