Here's a little 'Undercover Boss' story for you.

Life can get hectic, juggling work, kids, and everything in between. That's why my fiancé Kerry and I treasure our spa days. Our favorite retreat? Thermea Spa Village in Whitby. It's become our sanctuary, a place where time seems to stand still.

About a year ago, we stepped into Thermea for the first time. To say we lost track of time is an understatement — 8 hours flew by in a blissful haze. We indulged in lunch at the Bier Garden and dinner in the lounge, savouring every moment. The coffee with lunch was decent, a cappuccino and an Americano, a bit acidic but not off-putting. I couldn't help but notice their impressive tea program, yet no coffee program in sight. My curiosity piqued, I made a mental note to reach out at some point.

Fast forward a few months, and fate intervened. Thermea reached out to me in the fall, expressing their coffee woes. Complaints were pouring in about their current coffee, even issues with curdling in specialty beverages. It was serendipity. We organized a coffee tasting, presenting our brew alongside a custom Thermea Blend we crafted, designed to make waves.

Now, Thermea proudly serves our 100% Arabica traditional Italian Espresso, a custom medium/dark roast for their brewed coffee and specialty drinks, and an astonishingly delicious 'you wouldn't believe this is decaf' Zen Blend.

During our latest visit in January, I couldn't resist a bit of 'research' during lunch. Watching guests order their coffee, searching for those approving nods. I ordered a cappuccino, while Kerry chose the Thermea Blend. The verdict? Pure delight. When I chatted with the waitress, I hinted at our previous visit and the noticeable change. She practically beamed, sharing the news that they now source their coffee from Mavin Coffee Corp., the brains behind Deadly Grounds Cafe in Courtice.

I never revealed my identity, but a few days later, I shared my observations with the Food and Beverage Team. Their enthusiasm mirrored mine. The change was a hit, and guests were loving the new Thermea Coffee Program.
