New pear alert! ๐ŸŒฑ

Prima Orchards is back at it again with a new set of pretty pears landing in the market this Friday. If you missed the chance to get Clappa Pears from their farm, nows your chance to get Bartlett Pears and support Rami and his family.

Committed to sustainable growing practices and only organic fertilizers and pest control methods, their produce is fresh enough to pick off the trees and eat it straight. Matter of fact, that's what they've been doing for over 50 years!

Add them to your basket for your next order and bite into pear-adise ๐Ÿ

Mama's Earthlings are turning into their own urban farmers ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŒพ

One of our customers sent in photos of her Thai Basil grown using a sapling from Fiddle Foot Farm and we are absolutely obsessed with the results!

Said best from our friends at Fiddle Foot Farm:
๐Ÿ’ง Make sure there is good drainage and loosen the soil underneath and around the seedling
โ˜€๏ธ Sunlight, sunlight sunlight!
๐ŸŒฑPinch from the top of your Basil when harvesting it. This allows the plant to continue to grow and get multiple yields from it

Who knows, maybe a fragrant green coconut curry is next on the menu ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ

From a leap of faith to full-blown flavor: meet Ignacio and Mimi of Reyes Farms in Niagara. ๐Ÿ‘โœจ

When Ignacio looked Mimi in the eye and said "trust me," she traded her 10-year career as a Toronto fashion designer for farm boots and we are so glad she took that leap.

This farm's got a lot of history behind it. Originally known as Bizjak Farms, Mimi grew up with her family on the lands of Reyes Farms after her dad purchased his first fruit farm in 1974. Ignacio first came to Canada in 2005 through the Seasonal Agriculture Worker Program, to begin his farming journey. Flash forward to 2014, and with some convincing, a lot of work, and love, the farm wa shanded off from Mimi's brother to the couple, and was officialy Mimi's and Ignacio's.

Together, they poured their hearts into reviving the soil, learning best practices, and building a farm rooted in deep love for the land and community. Today, Ignacio still walks the fields every single day to catch the fruit at its peak ripeness.

We are so proud to source their unbelievable plums, peaches, nectarines, and sweet & sour cherries! Even though cherry season has officially passed, we just couldn't pass on showing the goregous fruits of their labour (literally). ๐Ÿ’

Grab some of their amazing produce and add them to your boxes this week ๐ŸŒฟ

Is it basil pronounced baz-uhl, or bay-zuhl? ๐Ÿฅด๐ŸŒฑ

Yesterday, we posted about how to take care of your tomato seedling from Fiddle Foot Farm (albeit, I'm a little late to the game in posting all this content, I'll admit ๐Ÿ˜…), so naturally it makes sense that we give you tips on a tomato's best friend.

Watch the vid in its entirety for more tips, but here are the highlights:
1. Loosen the soil underneath and around the seedling. Basil needs good drainage.
2. Make sure there's lots of direct exposure to the sun (not just heat).
3. When you're harvesting your basil, make sure to pinch from the top to allow the basil to continue to grow so you can get multiple yields from your plant.

Let us know in the comments what your fav way to use fresh basil is (mine's to make fresh pesto that I drown burrata cheese in ๐Ÿคค)

Five weeks ago, this was just a row of white flowers. Now it's the best two or three weeks of the whole year.

Jess grows her strawberries at Lunar Rhythm Gardens the slow way: organic, the land worked with horses, picked only when they're ready. That's why they're so good, and why they only last 2 to 3 weeks.
Swipe to watch them go from flower to fruit, then tag the person you'd split a pint with. ๐Ÿ“ Link in bio.

If you're like me and you still haven't transplanted your seedlings (shhh... I'm just the social media baby ๐Ÿ˜ญ), watch this.

A few weeks back, we visited Graham & Amy at Fiddle Foot Farm where they gave us some tips on how to take care of your seedlings and make the most of growing your own food this Summer.

Watch the full video for more tips, but here's a few key highlights:
1. Make sure you've hardened them off. That means slowly expose them to natural hot sunny days and wind so that they can handle the weather when they hit the ground.
2. Give tomatoes more space (around 24 inches)
3. Make sure you're repeatedly watering the tomatoes so that you can avoid transplant shock.

Did you get a tomato seedling? Comment below and let us know which one you're growing!
