📚 Book swap Sunday! Also… happy Mother’s Day.

We’re setting up outside, so stop by if you’re planning on heading to at Greenwood Park or if you’re just out and about.

Drop off a book you’ve loved between 8 and 9:30am.

Browse and take something new from 9:30am to 3:30pm. Grab a coffee. Say hi to a neighbour.

A great Mother’s Day morning starts with a good book and a great coffee!

Rain or shine.

Hi neighbours! We’re doing a book swap this Sunday and we’d love to see you there! 📍 The Magpie Coffee and Bakeshop, corner of Gerrard St East and Leslie St.

We’re setting up outside this Sunday, May 10 — perfect if you’re already heading to The Leslieville Farmers' Market. Stop by on your way!

Come by and drop off a book you’ve loved and take something new home.

Here’s how it works:

Bring donations between 8am and 9:30am, then the swap opens to everyone from 9:30am to 3:30pm. Browse the shelf, grab a book (or a few), and if you’re feeling it grab a coffee while you’re here.

A great Mother’s Day morning starts with a good book and a great coffee!

(If the weather doesn’t cooperate we’ll move it inside, so come rain or shine.)

Today we’re celebrating the incredible women who make up the community around The Magpie. 🌸

From the women running their food businesses in our kitchen, to the bakers and team members who help bring everything to life, to the women who join our baking workshops, and the wonderful clients who come in for coffee and treats — we’re surrounded by creativity, talent, and generosity every day.

There’s something powerful about women coming together to build, share, and support one another. It lifts everyone up, and we feel so lucky to witness it here.

Happy International Women’s Day, and thank you to all the amazing women who are part of The Magpie community. We’re so grateful for you!

This Women’s Day, we wanted to do something that felt meaningful and close to home.

This Sunday March 8, we’re donating 15% of every sale at The Magpie Bakeshop to Shelter Movers — a charity founded right here in Toronto’s east end.

Shelter Movers provides free moving and storage services to women and children leaving abusive homes.

On moving day, volunteers arrive with trucks and care so survivors can leave safely and with dignity. They’re the only service of their kind in Canada.

Come in this Sunday, grab something you love, and know that your purchase is going somewhere it’s really needed. 🌸

Meet Juliana 🎈the woman behind Balloon, the sparkling water you might have spotted in our fridge. 🫧

Juliana noticed a gap that many of us had probably just accepted: if you’re not drinking alcohol, your options are usually sugary mixers, club soda, or water.

So when she was laid off from her marketing job in 2023, she decided to make the thing she’d been wishing for — all-natural sparkling water with real fruit flavours and just a touch of real sugar. No artificial sweeteners. No compromise.

Then retailers started reordering. Customers kept coming back. Turns out she wasn’t the only one who wanted better bubbles.

We love carrying Balloon because it’s exactly the kind of story we’re here for: a woman who spotted a need, rolled up her sleeves, and built something worth raising a glass to. 🥂
