Nico took over his family’s farm, Catalan de Las Mercedes () in Chimaltenango, Guatemala, at a young age and has been quietly doing incredible things ever since. With a background in agricultural engineering, he separates every lot by variety and obsesses over his processing — and it shows. This year we’re proud to offer two distinct coffees from the farm: Catalan Natural and Catalan Red Bourbon.

Our co-founder Andy first met Nico judging at the Cup of Excellence Guatemala in 2012 and was hooked from the first sip. More than a decade of direct trade later, this remains one of our most treasured partnerships — built on friendship, shared values, and a mutual love of exceptional coffee.

To get to the café on Richmond Street West in Toronto via public transport, you can take the subway and get off at Osgoode Station. From there, head west on Queen Street and turn left onto University Avenue. Continue walking until you reach Richmond Street West and turn right. The café will be on your left.

Alternatively, if you are driving, you can take the Gardiner Expressway and exit onto Spadina Avenue. Turn left onto Richmond Street West and continue driving until you see the café on your right. There is street parking available in the area or you can park at a nearby paid parking lot.
