[VIETNAMESE STICKY RICE DUMPLINGS]

Vietnamese Sticky Rice Dumplings, or Banh It Tran, are small glutinous balls filled with seasoned ground pork and mashed mung bean. They can be served as an appetizer, part of a main course, or as a snack.

The name "Banh It Tran" literally translates to "little naked cakes" in English. "Little" refers to their smaller size compared to traditional rice cakes made with sticky rice instead of sticky rice flour. They are called "naked" because they are typically wrapped in banana leaves and steamed, but these dumplings are boiled until they float, similar to gnocchi.

Topped with scallion oil, fried onions, toasted shrimp flakes, and served with tart pickles and zesty fish sauce dipping sauce, these delicious dumplings are bursting with tantalizing flavors and textures!

[WATER FERN CAKES]

Today, we’re excited to introduce one of our favorite Vietnamese Street Food appetizers: Bánh bèo. Bèo cake, literally translated as "water fern cake," resembles water ferns floating on waves, evoking imagery of Huế with its romantic rivers and drifting water ferns.

If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a thin steamed rice cake topped with minced shrimp, scallions, green bean paste, and crispy fried shallots. But what really makes it irresistible is the addictive sour and spicy sauce, a vibrant mixture of fish sauce, sugar, garlic, and chili, creating a mouthwatering combination that’s sure to whet appetite of anyone.

It’s no surprise when guests smile with satisfaction after eating but still crave for more. They are so good we bèo-ly can handle it 😘
