The collaboration everyone asked for. Sunnys meets for a red pomelo sour.

Bitterness is an integral part of Chinese food culture. While the fruit itself is prized for its sweetness, the skin and pit is key for its bitterness and citrus notes. So when you put the refreshing flavours of citrus and mellow bitterness, it compliments the intensity of our food nicely.

Only available at ✌🏻

Now calling our Seabass to the table ☎️

Cooked on the charcoal grill with the flavours you would find in a Sichuan style dry pot dish. Our sauce uses fermented ginger, doubanjiang and caiziyou. The fish is served with lotus root, bean sprouts and fresh herbs 🪴

From start to finish, the Mapo Tofu. Serving rich, bold and spicy flavours from the Sichuan region with dry aged beef, Sichuan peppercorn and garlic chive.

Mapo tofu became one of the most famous dishes in Sichuan (& greater China) at the end of the Qing Dynasty. Although it is not the most common dish in modern Sichuan province, it still holds a special place in Sichuanese culinary history. The cultural impact of this dish is so significant that it has been adopted and changed to suit various countries’ personal tastes.

Here at Sunnys, order it with a side of steamed Jasmine Rice + a Baijiu Long Island Iced Tea and you’ll be set.

Say hi to Jojo, our Head Chef at Sunnys Chinese, who you may have spotted slinging orders behind the chefs counter. We asked him to share a few tidbits with us to get to know him better:

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙧 𝙗𝙖𝙧 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙮?
Favourite restaurant: N/A. Too many great restaurants in the city to just narrow it down to one. There's just so many variables to consider depending on the vibe.
Favourite bar: Any that has a decent pool table or karaoke room.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙢 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣'𝙩 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩?
Coffee beans. 100p.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙜𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙩𝙮 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙤𝙙?
Poutine, with a side bacon cheeseburger and a root beer. No hesitation.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚-𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙮?
Grill City at Seafood City.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙘𝙠𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙡?
Hard to say just one, I'd start with Negroni, Boulevardier, Whiskey sour, Long Island Iced Tea, and the Gun Powder Slap (as seen on the menu at Sunnys Chinese). Again depends on the vibe.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙩?
Charcoal Grilled Lamb Ribs with our house spice mix will always have my heart.

𝙁𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙛𝙛 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙡?
Whenever Chef says "don't worry about staff meal today, I got this”.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙜𝙤-𝙩𝙤 𝙠𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙤𝙠𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙜?
As a Canadian-Filipino,I don't have just one song....I have a track list.

𝘿𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩?
Not something I practice but I do notice I have really good reaction time when it comes to catching falling items

The next time you see Jojo behind the counter, don’t forget to test him and throw him a bone (jk - not really).

Winner winner, (heritage) chicken dinner. Cooked on our charcoal grill before being tossed in our house dry rub and sichuan oil. This dish leans heavy, and we mean heavy, into classic shaokao flavours.
