Tonight is the last night of service at and - tomorrow there is no service and we will be cleaning up and shutting her down. The place was barely open - maybe one day I can elaborate or say more about the specific things and people I’m grateful for - for now, thanks to the team and everyone who worked with me and supported me (or put up with me and supported Canteen, if that’s more befitting) past or present, love you all for your part and friendship

If you want to come drink really cheap delicious slush margaritas, classic margaritas, great cold beer and beer from last year that might be hit or miss, you’ve got a little time yet. We’re staying open late and we’re “motivated to sell” our inventory. We also have a fine selection of interesting non alc beverages if you don’t want to drink tonight, have drank enough tonight, or if like me you went too hard and you had to call it a day/lifetime.

Thanks to our customers, especially those few we got to know, who ordered all the time. I’m so grateful and there’s few things that feel as good as when someone just LOVES the food we prepare for them. Truly.

Last weekend was a beaut. I love the energy on Ossington on a killer summer evening. Even with so many people out of town, the people in the restaurants and bars spill out into the sidewalks, enjoying themselves. I stopped by the close to midnight and they were jammed with a DJ and still serving up killer falafel and kofta, zaatar fries with tahini dipping sauce. No street like it that I’ve found in Toronto. I live across the street and really love it. Granted, I moved here during the pandemic and don’t get out much bc we’ve been busy

We’re pushing hours later and adding new menu items - including some gluten free options. We have a margarita slush machine that is vastly underutilized. I’m thinking of running a special this weekend… we’re open until at least 9pm Thursday and want to expand to midnight Friday / Saturday if you’re feeling like eating some and queso, and crushing some beverages later in the evening.

If you’re in the area come say hi! (-jimmy)
