Following the recent discovery of 215 Indigenous children at Kamloops Indian Residential School and 751 indigenous souls at the Marieval Indian Residential School, we at Aburi Restaurants Canada extend our greatest sympathy to the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation, the Cowessess First Nation, as well as to all Indigenous communities across Canada.
This discovery deeply saddens us. The mistreatment of innocent Indigenous souls, especially those of children, is a shameful part of Canada’s history that cannot be overlooked. We are committed to being an active ally to the Canadian indigenous communities. On Thursday, July 1, 2021, we will donate to Indigenous Women’s Fund of Canada.
Aburi Restaurants Canada encourages you to learn more about these communities, their causes and take action alongside us if you are able to.

Charity Spotlight: The Indigenous Women’s Fund of Canada
The Indigenous Women's Fund of Canada strives to meet its mandate:
“1. To advance education by providing publicly available scholarships, bursaries and other forms of financial assistance to Indigenous women and youth.
2. To advance education by providing workshops and seminars to Indigenous women, such as financial literacy training.
3. To advance education by conducting research on Indigenous women's equality and human rights, and distributing the results of that research to the public.
4. To relieve poverty by providing financial assistance to Indigenous women and youth for litigation that deals with upholding equality rights, gender rights, and Aboriginal rights that have been secured by law.
5. To do all such things as are incidental or ancillary to the attainment of the above purposes.”

The fund is a newly created national charity, run by volunteers and staff of the Native Women’s Association of Canada who also volunteer their time after hours.
