Electric Blue Note comes to My House on April 30, featuring jazz iconoclast Brownman Ali and an all-star cast of Toronto's top-tier players: Nick MacLean on rhodes/synth, Sean Dennis on 6-string electric bass, and Aaron Seunarine on drums.
Brownman brings his internationally acclaimed electric-jazz approach to the legendary Blue Note Records catalogue — reimagining these classic arrangements through a modern lens, as Miles Davis might have done, but produced with the rhythmic language of today's Black American Music. NPR in New York has called him "the new standard in electric-jazz." He's a GRAMMY Award long-lister and two-time National Jazz Award winner for Electric Jazz Group of the Year.
Deep grooves. Harmonic daring. A night that honours jazz history while sounding completely current.
